Marina is a Qualified Therapist, with over 20 years’ experience working within the Health Care Sector. During her career Marina has held both clinical and management roles and gained extensive experience of providing Person-Centred care to individuals with varying emotional needs. She has also provided consultancy to various general medical, charitable and mental health organizations in relation to their organizational structure and development of best practice policies and protocols.
As Clinical Director of The Self Center, Marina has cultivated robust professional relationships with various Colleges & Universities in Ireland, that offer Counselling & Psychotherapy Degree/Training programmes. The Self Center has been an 'Approved Clinical Placement Provider' for training therapists since it's establishment in Tallaght Village in 2020. In her role as Clinical Director of The Self Center, Marina has provided mentorship to numorous student/trainee Therapists.
Marina has a deep appreciation of Psychoanalysis and a passion for Psychoanalytic theory and technique. She regularly attends Lectures and Seminars with The Institute of Psychoanalysis, London. and has completed the postgraduate Foundation course.
Marina’s desire to deepen her understanding of objects relations theory and Kleinian technique has led her to pursue her own analytic process with a Kleinian trained analyst for the last number of years. Marina’s clinical supervisor is also a Kleinian trained analyst. Her analyst and supervisor are Fellow Members of The institute of Psychoanalysis London.
Marina’s therapeutic approach in her clinical work with clients is Psychodynamic in nature, and Psychoanalytically informed. Some of the qualifications obtained by Marina include a Professional Certificate in Women and Substance Use (Level 9 NFQ) (UCD), a B.A in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a HCert. in Applied Social Studies. Marina has also completed ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). Marina is committed to ongoing professional development and has a particular interest in Trauma. For the past number of years Marina has been attending lectures on Trauma with The Tavistock Trauma Service.
Marina is an Accredited member of NAPCP Ireland and a member of The Association of Collaborative Practitioners.
