The Self Center Counselling & Psychotherapy Clinics, located in North & South Dublin, offer Mental Health Supports to Adults, Adolescents & Children.

At The Self Center we provide high quality professional Counselling and Psychotherapy services to clients with a wide range of presenting problems. Affordable Counselling and Psychotherapy is delivered in a safe, non-judgemental, confidential one-to-one setting.

Our therapists have all been carefully selected from the most widely recognised and respected training programmes. Counsellors and Therapists working at The Self Center adhere to the highest professional and ethical standards, without exception.

Therapists working in The Self Center clinics are trained in various therapeutic modalities, such as Humanistic Psychotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Play Therapy and Integrative Psychotherapy.

All Counsellors and Therapists at The Self Center are Garda Vetted and have completed the HSE Children's First Training. In addition, all therapists must have their own Indemnity Insurance, and be registered with a recognised accreditation body, such as NAPCP, IACP, IAHIP, ICP, BACAP and PTUK. Registration with an accreditation body ensures that Counsellors and Psychotherapists are complying with a Code of Ethics.

After contacting us, your initial enquiry will be responded to by our clinic director Marina. She will provide you with any information you need about The Self Center clinics and the services provided. Using The Self Center’s bespoke client intake assessment system, Marina will align you with one of our therapists based on your specific therapeutic needs

Counselling and Psychotherapy sessions are strictly by appointment only.

The Self Center acknowledges and respects the uniqueness of each client and their individual process. Through the support of the therapeutic relationship each client is accompanied on their journey of self discovery

Meet Marina

Marina is a qualified Therapist, with over 20 years’ experience working within the Health Care Sector. During her career Marina has held both clinical and management roles and gained extensive experience of providing Person-Centred care to individuals with varying emotional needs. She has also provided consultancy to various general medical, charitable and mental health organizations in relation to their organizational structure and development of best practice policies and protocols.

Marina has a deep appreciation of Psychoanalysis and a passion for Psychoanalytic theory and technique. She regularly attends Lectures and Seminars with The Institute of Psychoanalysis, London. and has completed the postgraduate Foundation course.

Marina’s desire to deepen her understanding of objects relations theory and Kleinian technique has led her to pursue her own analytic process with a Kleinian trained analyst for the last number of years. Marina’s clinical supervisor is also a Kleinian trained analyst. Her analyst and supervisor are Fellow Members of The institute of Psychoanalysis London.

Marina’s therapeutic approach in her clinical work with clients is Psychodynamic in nature. Some of the qualifications obtained by Marina include a Professional Certificate in Women and Substance Use (Level 9 NFQ) (UCD), a B.A in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a HCert. in Applied Social Studies. Marina has also completed ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). Marina is committed to ongoing professional development and has a particular interest in Trauma. For the past number of years Marina has been attending lectures on Trauma with The Tavistock Trauma Service.

Marina is an Accredited member of NAPCP Ireland and a member of The Association of Collaborative Practitioners.

The Self Center’s main clinic is located at 5 Main Road Tallaght, Dublin, D24 X096. The clinic is centrally located in Tallaght Village, approximately 10 minutes walk from The Institute of Technology Tallaght and within easy walking distance of The Square Shopping Centre, and the Red Line Luas. The clinic also has 5 major bus routes passing within 100m of its front door.

The clinic’s central location in Tallaght Village, and it’s close proximity to the M50 facilitates ease of accessibility to people living in surrounding areas such as Rathfarnham, Knocklyon, Rathcoole, Lucan, Clondalkin, Firhouse, Ballycullen, Balliteer, Crumlin and Palmerstown.

Driving from Dublin airport via M50 the journey to The Self Center Clinic Tallaght takes approximately 22 minutes.

The Self Center also operates a smaller branch of it’s clinic on Dublin’s northside. The location of our Northside clinic is 400 North Circular Road, Dublin 7. (Beside The Mater Hospital). It is within walking distance of TU Dublin Grangegorman Campus. The clinic location is easily accessible by public transport routes from areas such as Drumcondra, Cabra, Phibsborough, Glasnevin, Finglas, Ballymun, Blanchardstown and Castleknock.
